Trampoline 2.0 is Out!
So, the thing I've been working on for the past 2
months is finally out the door. When it was first
released, Bullseye got a bit of attention, but it was
never the full featured program I had wanted. Since
then, I've been updating Bullseye now and then, but
always in dribs and drabs, never enough even to
warrant an update. I was surprised when I realized
that I hadn't released any updates for Bullseye since
May of 05, and then I looked at what features I had
released, and realized that the version I had on my
hard drive was so far ahead of what was out in my
users' hands, but still nowhere near what I wanted
Bullseye to be.
And I had also gotten sick of the name. The name Bullseye just brings up connotations of firing practice and hunting and adware. So I realized that the name had to go too.
And so over the holiday, I finally bit the bullet (as it were). Everything about Bullseye that was bugging me, every feature that I wanted to add but thought would take too long, every problem I had with the interface, the documentation, etc. I just dug in.
For the name, I took my inspiration from the kids I work with in my other job. Trampolines are about fun, about bouncing up quickly, about being surprised and delighted. Trampoline's are round. It worked perfectly.
The result is Trampoline. It's a new name for a new look, a new featue set, and a new icon.
I'm still having trouble sorting out marketing speak from personal reflection. Now that I'm freer to write a blog, I'll be working toward making this a space for explaining my own thoughts rather than just a promotional space for my products.
Still, Trampoline is COOL! I'm not kidding. Don't believe me? Download it. Oh sorry, I did it again. Did I mention I've been wanting to release this for 2 years now?
